In the ever-evolving healthcare industry, direct thermal printers have become a staple for patient identification. Two primary wristband technologies dominate the market: direct thermal rolls and direct thermal cartridges. While cost savings are important, they should not compromise safety, efficiency, performance, and patient experience. Therefore, when considering patient ID systems, it’s crucial to evaluate their impact on these aspects as well, as they can also contribute to the organisation’s bottom line.

Patient safety is a top priority for every hospital, and a key component of this is patient identification. Proper identification reduces risks such as misidentification, miscommunication, and errors in health records. Identification methods include wristbands, labels, and forms that link the patient to the hospital’s Health Information System.

Direct thermal printing is an efficient process that prints directly onto specially designed thermal paper or foil, embedding colour formers within it. The print is activated by heat, eliminating the need for thermal transfer foil. This method uses a simple thermal pressure bar, which is easy to maintain with periodic cleaning using an alcohol pad. The print typically appears in black, like the output of thermal fax machines. However, the quality of patient wristbands is ensured by using high-grade, durable materials, avoiding cheaper unprotected types.

Amid a major concern over the global spread of the Coronavirus, our Senior Management have investigated all details that can be of potential risk on our Supply Chain and how this may affect our performance and service levels to our customers. BRENMOOR regularly attend regional one day meetings related to blood transfusion. Mainly to demonstrate our baby wristbands which we believe are the softest and most practical available anywhere in the world and also of course the ever popular Blood Bag Tags. We are delighted to announce that BRENMOOR wristbands will be used inside a new and brilliant mobile application designed by Kodit and distributed by BlueStar. A suite of easy to use, web enabled care modules, for use in both Hospitals and Community Care. Each CAREMagic module,  accredited to ISB 1077, addresses a specific set of health procedures/pathways, allowing users to generate auditable proof of outcomes, whilst at the same time both increasing efficiency and reducing cost.

Following the initial success of the first version of the patented Blood Bag tag BRENMOOR have re-designed the product to add even more functionality. Blood unit identification is an area that is governed by the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) and the tag complies with all aspects of their guidance. As hospitals move to identify units of fluid or blood as efficiently as possible the advantages of the tag are immediately recognisable. They are simple to use and implement are economically priced, print without inks and have no need for luggage tags and string to attach them to the unit of fluid.

It’s been one month since we exhibited at Arab Health 2012 and following a busy event which showcased the relaunch of our new Blood Bag Tag amongst our other range of hospital bracelets, hospital labels and Patient ID solutions, we have seen a positive increase in business. Most notable of our recent successes has been the amount of interest we have been getting from worldwide distributors, particularly within new territories such as Qatar, Russia, Portugal and Brazil.
